He’s back. My husband enjoyed writing for my blog so much, that he’s back with another one. The words to come detail an example of a time that I had crazy faith and how it played out in the most unforeseen way. I hope through my husband’s words you will be inspired and realize that you don’t have to go at it alone, lean on some borrowed faith. – Tiffani Thomas
Who’s on the lookout?
There’s nothing like having someone look out for you. Whether it is a family member or a friend or a complete stranger, it can really make you feel good. Maybe they were thinking of you and brought you your favorite snack. Or maybe they knew you needed something and found a way to pull some strings and make it happen.
I remember going to an event and someone made sure that one of my favorite things was available for me to enjoy even though it wasnāt about me. My wife does this for me sometimes, as well. Sheāll get a gift or bring me a meal when I least expect it. It benefits my soul and sometimes brought me closer to a goal.
Back-Up Faith
The same thing can happen in the category of faith. Someone elseās faith can have your back. Itās not always dependent on you. There was a special moment that occurred years ago while my wife and I were driving along the interstate. We were having a discussion about our new goals of becoming debt free. In our relationship, I am more aware of the amounts going out and coming in to our accounts. This is important because it influenced my response to my wifeās declaration. She said that my student loans will be paid off in five months. That amount of money didnāt exist in our accounts which caused me to laugh and ask how in the world she thought this was going to happen. It was comical and seemed unreasonable to me. She then said something that holds as a moniker to this day in our relationship. She distinctly looked at me and with flare said, āYou donāt know my God!ā
Now, Iām not going to lie. I was genuinely offended. It felt like a shot at my belief. I felt like I had to validate my belief in God to my wife on that dark highway. It sounds silly but it cut me deep. I told her that I knew God just like she did. I continued to reiterate the numbers and what our bank account looked like. She did not waiver on her faith statement.
Loan Faith
Not even a couple weeks later, we get a call from my mom. We were having a normal conversation and then out of the blue she mentions my student loans. She tells me that there is money in our joint account that we can use to pay off that student loan in full. I was in shock and all I could do was smile and shake my head because I knew what was coming next. My wife was with me when my mom called and could hear the conversation and she just smiled from ear to ear and gave God thanks!
Immediately the boyās father exclaimed, āI do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!ā
Mark 9:24
Her faith fulfilled a goal when mine was lacking. There are many times in the Bible where this is shown. In Mark 9:24, the father with a sick child who said Lord I believe but help my unbelief was counting on Godās faith to fill the voids in his own. Sometimes a leaderās faith can benefit others as in the stories of Moses and Joseph. Itās a beautiful thing when you look at it. It paints this beautiful mosaic of faith where we can all benefit and contribute.
Hitchhiker Faith.
Sometimes our faith has provided fruit to come forth in other peopleās lives. At other times, you have to hitch your faith to someone elseās, either knowingly or unknowingly, when yours is lacking. Make it a win-win relationship and watch God grow you.
