How I long for Africa
From time to time, I still get upset that I almost didn’t go, I almost said no, I almost missed out. I found out I was pregnant about 10 weeks before the trip. Immediately, I thought that I should back out and not go. But, I talked with the trip leader, my OB and I decided to go. My trip to Africa was absolutely amazing and I 100% recommend going. NOT, pregnant, but definitely a must. It’s such a life changing experience that completely changed me, my perspective, and my circle of influence. You can read more about it here, I’ve wrote about it before.
Francis and Benedict
Anyway, I have been trying to get back to Africa for years and I haven’t been able to. Either the pandemic stopped me or I was switching jobs or I was breastfeeding my baby, I just could not fit it into my schedule. Well, I am no longer allowing my schedule or location limit my impact in Africa. So, I became an advocate. I have been looking for ways to make a difference with my writing and I found one. I am a Francis and Benedict advocate. Never heard of them. Have you ever seen those bold, vibrant clothes that people frequently wear in Africa? Well, imagine you wearing one of those garment. You can check them out here. With each purchase, you are helping support seamstresses in Africa. That’s right you are making a difference in Africa. I am so excited and I just love these skirts. One of my favorite souvenirs that I brought back from Africa was clothes. They are so well constructed and the skirts have pockets. You can see some of the souvenirs in the picture above.
My Mission
I am in love with the mission of this company. Afterall, they employee seamstresses in Togo, West Africa. But, it makes me wonder what is stopping them from expanding and using seamstresses in other Africa countries. Ever since meeting all of those kids in the orphanage in Kenya, I have not stopped thinking about ways that I could impact their lives. Soon, I’ll post about the time we paid for two girls to go to college. FYI, college in Kenya is not that expensive. I am on mission to use my plenty to help as many girls in Kenya go to college as possible, but now I am thinking what if they could earn an income sewing. What if college wasn’t the only option? What if I could help them by finding a way to sell skirts half a world away?
So, yes I officially have not an affiliate link, but an advocate link. A link that helps me use my plenty, to help those that need it.
