My daughter believes me. Without question. If I say it, she believes it. So, we have started getting my daughter to stand on the sink in the bathroom and recite affirmations. We try to do this most morning. After we have brushed our teeth and done our hair. We stand and declare. We declare things that we want her to believe and know deep within, things that are true regardless of what others say and things that I will not allow the world to define about her.
So, imagine her standing tall, looking at her self in the mirror and declaring this in the sweetest little 2 year old voice.
We will get more biblical as she gets older. But she gets so excited when she says “God loves me”. I think it’s her favorite part and although she likely doesn’t completely understand who God is. She believes he loves her. She truly believes everything that I make her recite, because I’m her mom. She trust me. She knows me. She knows I am for her. She knows I love her.
So, if my 2 year old, can put all the faith in me as a fallen broken human? Why can’t I put that much faith in God? Why can I take him at his word and get over the moon thrilled when someone reminds me that God loves me? Toddler faith is something else. You say it, so they believe it. That’s it. So simple.
Makes me wonder, who are we putting our faith in? Who is speaking into our lives? Who is telling us that we are anything less than a child of God? Wonderfully and fearfully made? A co heir with Christ? Called according to his purpose?
Don’t take my word for it. Just look at the verses below. Then get up, go to your mirror and remind yourself who you are. Then let the devil know who you are.
Declare loudly!
I am wonderfully and fearfully made.
I am a royal priesthood and God’s special possession.
I am called according to his purpose.
I am a co-heir with Christ.
God loves me.
And so much more.
What other affirmations do you need to remind yourself of daily?
Write them on your mirror. Remind yourself daily of the truth so when the lies come and the world try to define you. You can stand firm knowing what God, your creator, says about you.
“So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”
Matthew 7:11 NLT
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalms 139:14 NIV
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
Romans 8:28-30 NIV
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Romans 8:31 NIV
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Romans 8:16-17

Children are the greatest in the kingdom! It feels like they teach us more than they learn from us.
Matthew 18:1-3
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
