Do you abuse your authority?
I mean not in a bad way, but every opportunity that you have to use it, do you? I think some people would think I borderline abuse the authority that God gave me.
In the very beginning, I mean “Genesis beginning.” Genesis 1:26. God said that we were made in his likeness to rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
I take this very literal, and I wouldn’t say I abuse my authority. But I have what some might think is an abnormal use of it. I explain to animals that I have authority over them and that they must move. I have started walking after work on Fridays with a coworker. Prior to our walk, another coworker warned us about the ducks around the pond we were walking to. Apparently she had been previously chased by a duck. I told my walking buddy not to worry and we headed out. Down the hill we strolled to the pond. Halfway around the track we encountered a large gathering of ducks. I explained to these ducks that I had authority over them and that they had to get out of my way. And wouldn’t you know it they moved. They didn’t chase us. They just got out of the way.
Now all road blocks, issues, and problems won’t just move out of the way. But some might. So today, use your authority, put some respect on your name and tell that thing to move.

Amen. Thank you for reminding me of the power God has given me.
